Nutri-Shake
NM-SHK-50 · With moringa
Small meal replacer fortified with moringa and a full vitamin and mineral premix. For a shift where food intake was poor.
Company profile · 2026
A 51% black women-owned company in Kathu, supplying fatigue supplements formulated by registered dietitians for the shift environment, together with on-site dietetic services to mining operations across the Northern Cape.
Nutri Mining was founded in 2020 to solve a specific problem: mining employees working 12-hour shifts need food that stabilises energy across the shift, and most of what is available on site does the opposite. We have the expertise of registered dietitians, who formulated our products specifically for the shift environment — and the same clinical team supports those products on site.
Director · Operations & Accounts
Runs supply, order fulfilment, stock control and the commercial side of the business — including order scheduling, batch traceability and the recall and quality contact line.
Director · Registered dietitian RD(SA)
Clinical director and product development. Part of formulation, and responsible for nutritional claims, patient education material and the clinical standard applied across all on-site services.
Vision
To be the leading provider of nutrition services and fatigue supplements to the mining industry, so that every miner can perform at their best.
Mission
To optimise the health and wellbeing of mining professionals through tailored nutrition solutions — enhancing productivity and building a culture of wellness through personalised services and high-quality nutrition products.
Business objectives
Local, in every sense
Nutri Mining is headquartered in Kathu and manufactures in Kuruman. Our directors, our clinical team, our manufacturing partner and our workforce are all based in the Northern Cape communities our client mines operate in — which means orders are filled from within the district rather than trucked in from Gauteng.
We run two service streams. They are sold separately and work best together: the supplements manage energy across the shift, and the dietetics service identifies who needs what, trains employees to use it properly, and measures whether it worked.
Manufacture, supply and delivery of dietitian-formulated fatigue supplement packs, produced locally in Kuruman and delivered to site.
On-site clinical dietetics delivered by registered dietitians, in company clinics and at the workplace.
Made for mining, and nothing else
The Nutri-Shake, Nutri-Sip, Nutri-Drink, Nutri-Bite and Nutri-Bar ranges are developed and manufactured exclusively for supply into the mining sector. They are not sold through retail. Formulation, portion size, packaging format and mixing instructions are all built around a 12-hour shift and the practical realities of underground and surface work.
Nutri-Go dual pouch
Nutri Mining is the sole distributor of the Nutri-Go dual pouch in the Northern Cape. The dual pouch carries powder and water in a single sealed unit, so it needs no clean water source, no bottle and no preparation — which makes it the format of choice where employees are away from facilities for the length of a shift.
What the training covers
What we report back
Individual clinical information stays confidential between the employee and the dietitian, and is shared only through the mine's occupational health channel with consent.
Six formats, each solving a different problem on shift — five manufactured locally in Kuruman, plus the Nutri-Go dual pouch we distribute. All caffeine-free, all single-serve.

Changes in progress
1 Nutri-Shake and Nutri-Bar are being reformulated to bring sugar per serving into line with the rest of the range, and Nutri-Bar moves from 28 g to 40 g — both effective 2027. Values above are per current approved artwork.
No two operations issue the same pack. Shift length, heat load, access to clean water and underground versus surface work all change what should be in the bag. We assemble combination packs to the composition a client specifies, sealed in one resealable pouch.
Shake + mageu + rehydrate + bite

How a pack is built
01 Assess
We review shift pattern, heat exposure, water access and any occupational health data shared with us.
02 Specify
A dietitian proposes a pack composition and issue cycle; the client confirms or amends.
03 Assemble
Packs made up to the agreed composition in Kuruman, sealed and labelled.
04 Dispatch
Made available at Kuruman for collection by the mine's courier, with batch and best-before traceability.
05 Train
Employees are trained on correct use — what each item is for and how to prepare it.
06 Review
Composition is reviewed against uptake, heat load and clinical outcomes.

Training goes with the pack
A pack that is not understood gets traded, hoarded or thrown away. Every supply agreement includes training in the proper use of the supplements and awareness training on reducing the risk of fatigue, delivered on site in the languages spoken by the workforce.
Our products are manufactured and packed in Kuruman by Inventibite (Pty) Ltd, our contracted manufacturing partner — a certified food facility employing around 30 local people, inside the Northern Cape municipalities our client mines operate in.
Why local matters to a mine
| Certification | Issued by | Standard | Validity |
|---|---|---|---|
| Food safety system assessment · IB0626 | Mérieux NutriSciences | SANS 10049 and ISO/TS 22002 prerequisite programmes and HACCP principles (Codex Alimentarius), aligned with GFSI Benchmarking Requirements. Score 91%. | To 10 Jun 2027 |

| Halaal certification | NIHT | Halaal compliance of manufacturing and product. | Current |
| FSSC 22000 | — | Full export-grade GFSI-benchmarked certification. | In progress |
Certificates issued with any tender. The Mérieux scope covers bar manufacture; powder and sachet lines run under the same site prerequisite programmes and municipal certificate.
Where the facility stands today
Tenders commonly ask for ISO 22000 certification or an equivalent internationally recognised food safety standard. Our manufacturing partner has been independently assessed by Mérieux NutriSciences against foundational food safety management requirements including HACCP principles, aligned with the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) Benchmarking Requirements, scoring 91%. This sits alongside a current municipal Certificate of Acceptability under R638 of 2018.
Where it is going
Full FSSC 22000 certification — a GFSI-benchmarked scheme built on ISO 22000 — is in progress as part of the facility's export readiness programme. We will issue the certificate to clients on award. Where a client requires full ISO 22000 or FSSC 22000 certification as a condition of contract rather than an equivalent standard, we ask that this is raised early so the timing can be confirmed.
Nutri Mining is the contracting party. We hold the client relationship, the clinical responsibility and the supply obligation, and we carry the documentation to support all three.
A note on scope
Our supplements support nutritional status during shift work. They are foodstuffs, not medicines, and do not replace a fatigue management system, adequate rest or medical treatment. Clinical concerns are referred through occupational health.
We supply fatigue supplements and deliver dietetic services to mining operations across the Northern Cape — manganese, iron ore, lime and diamonds, on surface and underground operations. Our first fatigue supplement supply began in September 2022 and has run continuously since.

Working with us
Most engagements start with a short site conversation: shift patterns, heat load and what the operation already spends on snacks and drinks. From there we propose a pack composition, an issue cycle and a dietetics schedule, priced against the site's headcount. References, specification sheets and statutory documentation are available on request.
